
Hourly Employees Benefits Overview:
6 Paid Holidays
Each year Earnest Contracting /BYB Trucking will observe 6 major US holidays. Hourly employees will receive 8 hours of pay for each holiday. These will be scheduled days off, however there may be opportunities where employees will be needed to work. If an employee (hourly or salaried) does end up working on one of the holidays, they will receive their regular pay plus the 8 hours of holiday pay. The 8 hours of holiday pay do not count towards overtime hours. Holiday pay will be paid out with the next pay period. Newly hired employees are eligible for Holiday pay upon starting.

If you do work on a paid holiday, you will receive 8 hours of holiday pay on top of your regular pay. This is true for salaried employees also.
3 Days of Paid Time Off
Hourly employees will receive 3 days of paid time off each year. Each day equals 8 hours of regular time pay. Newly hired employees are eligible after their 90-day probationary period. These are not paid sick days. These days are intended to be used for doctors’ appointments, family events, etc. Prior notification and approval from a supervisor, manager, or foreman is required. Use of more than one day consecutively requires at least two weeks notification and approval. Use of all three days at one time requires at least 3 weeks prior notification and approval. Approved requested days off will be paid out regardless of a rain day or Saturday when your crew is not working. Any unused days will be paid out in January of the following year. This PTO cannot count towards overtime. You cannot work on a day when you are taking your PTO. To request use of your PTO days see your foreman.

End of Year Shutdown PTO
As a company (Earnest Contracting / BYB Trucking) we shutdown between December 24 and January 2nd. All eligible hourly employees will receive 40 hours of paid time off during the shutdown. To be eligible you must have been an employee for more than 90 days on December 31st. This PTO will be paid out the week before Christmas. Employees hired before July 1st will be eligible for the full 40 hours of PTO. Employees hired after July 1st and before October 1st will be paid a pro-rated amount depending on the total number of weeks from their date of hire. Each week will equal 1.5 hours of PTO.

Bi-Annual Loyalty Bonus

Loyalty bonuses are given in January and July of each year.

For current employees (as of July 2024) time was calculated by taking the total hours worked divided by 2250 (50 weeks x 45 hours).

We started calculating time with Best Yet Builders employees (2001) and BYB Trucking employees (2011). ​​

***IMPORTANT***​ Regardless of your current time with the company, if you quit or are fired and then return to employment with Earnest Contracting or BYB Trucking, your time for the Loyalty Bonus RESTARTS. This is true for any amount of time whether there was a week or 3 years between your separation date and rehire date.
